Every problem is a door that leads you to new opportunities. With the COVID-19 crisis, big or small, every business has experienced a massive drop in their physical sales. However, we cannot ignore the fact that there has been an upsurge in the online sales too. Today, going online is not an option, it has become a necessity for businesses to thrive and grow. But with online sales, comes a package of hassles, safe and timely delivery of products being one of the major concerns.

We had an interesting conversation with the founders and co-Founders of some Nepali startups. Find out how these companies are delivering their products safely even in today’s tough time.

Bhojdeal.com

Bhojdeals.com, one of the pioneer food delivery companies, has been serving the delivering food from your favorite restaurants from the past 3 years now. They have quite a long experience in the food tech industry. Find out how this startup has been delivering and catering its customers with the use of innovative technology in our conversation with Co-Founder, Niket Agrawal.

  1. Do you deliver yourself or have you hired a logistic company ?

We deliver it on our own. We have around 60 delivery riders to deliver in the Kathmandu Valley.

2.How long does it take for a product to reach a customer once they have ordered it from you?

We deliver in around 30 to 40 minutes within a zone and 40 to 60 minutes outside the zone, wherein partners within 4km are considered within the zone. The customer can even track their order.

3.Do the customers have to bear the delivery charge?

Its FREE delivery service for order above Rs.1000. While the charge is Rs.50 for purchase between Rs.500- Rs.1000 and Rs.100 for below 500. However there is no minimum order limit. You can order one samosa and we will be happy to deliver at your place.

4.How do you pack your product to ensure safety?

The first packaging is done by the restaurants themselves. Then we keep the packed food in a reusable carry bag which keeps the food warm. The bag also ensures that the food is not spilled during the delivery along with zero contact for the safety.

5. How do you ensure product safety during transit?

Like I said, we have our own carry bags designed to ensure food safety. The carry bags are placed on big delivery bags of the riders. The delivery bag has thermal packing ensures the food stays warm.

6. Is there any return policy?

Despite all the effort, if the food is not upto the mark or food gets spilled during the transit, then we refund in the BhojWallet or even offer complementary foods from the restaurant.

7. Do you provide any special Packaging to create the first impression of your brand?

Yes, the carry bags which we talked about earlier are not normal plastic bags. They’re reusable bags made especially by Bhojdeal for branding purpose.

8. Why did you choose to do it by yourself instead of hiring the logistic company?

When we entered the market, there weren’t many logistic companies. We deliver even during the festival which might not be possible from a logistics company. Choosing to do on our own made it easier to ensure the quality of riders, directly deal with them and provide prompt service.

9. What are the major challenges you do face when delivering the products?

On time delivery is the major challenge. At times restaurants take longer to place the order or riders may not reach on quoted time. Likewise, the traffic of Kathmandu is another challenge. And considering the present situation, the Covid-19 Guidelines brought in new set of challenges starting from getting a pass.

10. Can you share one good and bad experience for delivering to the customer.

We have a lot of good experiences. Three years back, a customer placed an order for her brother and also requested us to write a note. We delivered notes with the food and she was extremely happy with our service. Such things make our day. Delivering happiness is what we like to call it and have been trying to do for the past 3 years.

Talking about bad experience, during the festival, we were not able to deliver every order properly. People get restless if we reach 5 minutes late than the quoted time.

They have great deal and discounts everyday. Check out here.

1. Do you deliver it by yourself or have you hired a logistic company?

We do both. We have our own delivery staffs and we have hired a logistics company too.

2. How long does it take to get the products delivered?

We deliver within a day inside the valley. Whereas for delivery outside valley and outside Nepal depends on the customers location.

3. Do the customers have to bear the delivery charge?

No, we provide Free Delivery all over Nepal.

4. How do you pack your product to ensure it safely reaches the customer ?

We get the honey from different districts of Nepal. After the filtration, we then fill it in a jar and make sure the lid is tightly sealed for the safety.

5. How do you ensure product safety during transit?

The jar is tightly sealed and boxed. We bubble wrapping the jars and they are then loaded on the delivery bag. The logistics company takes care of the product after pick up.

6. Is there any return policy?

Oh, yes, Easily. The customers can even return the used product if they don’t like it.

7. Do you provide any special Packaging to create the first impression of your brand?

Yes, we do that. We deliver the pure mad honey on the bag branded with best mad honey logo along with the brochure and some special gift to our customers.

8. Why did you choose to hire a logistics Company?

It’s not possible for us to deliver the products outside valley, so hiring a logistic company was a necessity. Also, with  logistic companies, the delivery within the valley also gets economical and easier. And this service is specially useful at times when we have a high number of orders from multiple different places.

9. What are the major challenges you face concerning delivery of the product?

Communication gap is a major problem. If we have our own staff we can ask them to deliver right away but it is a challenge when working with a logistics company. The logistics company doesn’t arrive on expected time. Other than that it’s good.

10.What are the advantage of hiring logistics company to deliver?

It saves a lot of time and we can deliver all over Nepal at a very economical rate with less resources.

11. Do you have any suggestion for Logistic companies?

I am very happy and satisfied with the service. However, if their pickup and delivery service is prompt and online that would be great.

12. Can you share one good and bad experience/ challenges when delivering to the customers.

There are so many good experience. Once we went to deliver to our regular customer and they invited us for a delicious lunch.

Talking about bad experiences, I can’t think of it. Mostly our market is on a recommendation basis. The customers are people we know or they come to us via referrals. So, we haven’t faced any bad experience on delivery till date.

We wanted someone we can reach out easily. I researched on few logistics companies but came to know that they pick up goods and deliver them the next day. So, I choose to reach out to customers on our own to provide faster and timely delivery.

9. What are the major challenges you face in delivery of the products?

We aren’t able to supply our products outside of Kathmandu valley due to the risk of fragmentation of the product. The other major challenge is the customers don’t pick up the call after the delivery staff reach the location or even change the location making it difficult to manage the time schedule.

10. Can you share one good and bad experience/ challenges when delivering to the customer.

We receive a very positive response from our customer for fast and timely delivery of product, and share their happiness with the benefits of using K for kombucha.

Talking about bad experience, once we received an order from a foreigner. We reached the destination at a confirmed date but there was some misunderstanding due to language barrier. He wasn’t available before 4 and we don’t deliver beyond 4 PM. We tried to make him understand our situation but instead he said he’ll give us bad reviews. I personally felt bad and went to deliver myself at his favorable time.
