King’s College, South Asian Leadership Forum and Nepal 2050 invites you to the panel discussion on ‘COVID-19 response across South Asia – Supporting the most vulnerable’.
The discussion will explore the disparity in response to the COVID-19 crisis across the South Asian region in supporting the most vulnerable. As COVID-19 entered the region, different countries responded to the crisis differently and in-turn generated a different form of health, economic and humanitarian crisis. While the virus might be democratic in nature – ignoring national, social and class boundaries, it’s impact has not been so equitable. Workers in large urban centres, daily wage labourers and those involved in the informal and unorganised economy have been hit worse than others. During this talk/session we hope to delve more into detail on the impact of disparity of the response, it’s impact and lessons that can be learned from the actions taken by civil society and government to support the most vulnerable.
The event will take place on Zoom.
The speaker for the session are Bilal Majeed, a public sector consultant; Pooja Rai,Founder and CEO of Anthill creations; and Md. Abir Hasan Niloy, founder of Youth Policy Forum (YPF).The session will be moderated by Supral Raj Joshi.
