On the 15th December 2019, Next Venture Corp successfully conducted the largest entrepreneurship conclave of Nepal- Next Growth Conclave 2019! The fourth edition of Next Venture Corp’s flagship event was hosted in Soaltee Crowne Plaza, the event was supported by Nabil Bank.
Who was the event targeted to?
Since its inception in 2016, Next Growth Conclave is a platform that brings together all major stakeholders of Nepal’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. The event catered to start-ups, investors, global speakers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and media. More than a thousand people attended this year’s growth conclave, including 800+entrepreneurs and 200+investors, making NGC’19 bigger and better than the last three editions!
What were the major points of attraction?
The event hosted 18 national and international, global speakers from diverse backgrounds and expertise who spoke to players of the Nepali entrepreneurial ecosystem on topics ranging from ‘what investors look for while investing in a start-up’ to ‘problems and prospects of the vibrant south-Asian economy.’
The panelists/speakers also spoke about ‘social change and impact that social enterprises can bring.’ Also importantly, on ‘the need to differentiate truth from perception’ as need of time demands us to switch lens and recognize the potential and future of Nepal’s entrepreneurship. Moreover, CEO of Nabil Bank, Mr. Anil Keshary Shah spoke about the role that Nabil Bank wants to play in fostering Nepal’s SMEs and becoming the bank of the present generation, hence adapt to become the bank of the future.
At the start-up valley, more than 33 start-ups, excluding event partners showcased their business to investors and media houses. Similarly, at Investor Lounge and Media Lounge start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors as well as the press had the chance to network, explore opportunities, and enhance visibility.
Post conclave, an interactive press release was arranged at Nabil Bank headquarters. The press release was graced by two global speakers from Next Growth Conclave: Miss. Carman Chan- an entrepreneur turned investor, a globally recognized venture capitalist and one of the five women to watch in Asia Tech. Accompanying Ms. Chan was Mr. Mohan Belani, co-founder and CEO of e27, a startup and tech ecosystem platform that assists start-up founders to build and grow their companies.
Moreover, Mr. Anil Keshary Shah and senior representatives from Nabil’s SME division also participated in the press release alongside CEO of Next Venture Corp Mr. Kavi Raj Joshi , Program Manager of Next Growth Conclave Ms. Larisha Dhakal, and Program and Portfolio Manager Mr. Jiten Shrestha.
While miss Chan expressed potential for Nepali start-ups in exploring growing mobile capacity, internet penetration, and tech-literacy, Mr. Belani remarked how important it was to boost investor literacy alongside developing entrepreneurship for holistic development of entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Moreover, small and medium enterprises across Nepal get a positive push as Nabil Bank hints on launching a new product in SME Banking Product line alongside Nabil Nari Karja and customized SME loan. The announcement should encourage decentralized entrepreneurship initiatives across Nepal.
