His Holiness the fourteenth Dalai Lama of Tibet often mentions about hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. This is exactly what Disaster Risk Reduction – Young Leaders Fellowship (DRR-Fellowship) endeavors to do. The fellowship is designed to train fifteen different individuals on disaster information management systems in fifteen project municipalities.
It is an initiative led by Youth Innovation Lab (YI-Lab) and financially supported by USAID’s Tayar Nepal. The motivation stems from wanting to mitigate, stay alert and provide resources during the time of potential natural disasters. The trained fellows are expected to work on the Building Information Platform Against Disaster (BIPAD) portal where the datas are locally sourced and helps the local government to prepare for any kind of calamities in near future.
It is definitely an interesting opportunity to be in service for a cause that reduces the risk of losing lives. The application for the fellowship is open and the details can be found on the following guideline: https://fellowship.youthinnovationlab.org/Application_Guidelines_2021.pdf
