ANHS-Himalaya announces Webinar on March 19


cIn celebration of Women’s History Month 2021, ANHS-Himalaya announce the 2nd ANHS webinar: Reflections on the Forty-Year Anniversary of the Status of Women in Nepal Report. The Association for Nepal and Himalayan Studies (ANHS) is the oldest academic organization in the United States devoted to the study of Nepal and the Himalayas in the United States.

In addition to reflections on this landmark study and its impact on gender and equity policies in Nepal over the decades, panelists will speak to their own experiences with authorship and implementation of the study including its findings and results. Panelists will also discuss on  current debates, demands, and actions related to the status of women in Nepal today.

Key topics include

  • controversy and opposition related to the Government of Nepal Department of Immigration’s travel policies for women under-40
  • recent women’s marches and protests in Kathmandu against gendered violence and patriarchal impunity
  • LGBQTI+ identity in Nepal today and other topics.
